City Council Honors 3 East Brooklynites

Last week NYC Council made official the co-naming of more than 60 main roads across the city. Three of them affect roads in East Brooklyn.

City Council decided to co-name the slice of Snediker Avenue that extends Between Livonia Avenue and Pitkin Avenue to Lillie F. Martin Lane.

“We are very pleased that the work of Ms. Lillie F. Martin to the community of East New York, and indeed the Borough of Brooklyn and the City of New York, is being acknowledged by the City Council and the Mayor. We are glad to have her memory immortalized in our community and look forward to the actual unveiling of the street sign,” said Council Member Inez Barron.

Sonny Abubadika Carson Avenue was not included in this round of co-namings.

The section of Shepherd Avenue that runs between Atlantic Avenue and Pitkin Avenue can now be aliased Msgr. John T. Peyton Avenue and East 51st Street between Beverly Road and Clarendon Road now also goes by the name Private First Class Errol Milliard Way. Along with those co-namings the Council repealed previous co-namings for 4 streets in Queens.
